The old adage of ‘what got us here, won’t get us there’ is true. We’ve passed the 100 people mark, operate in multiple countries across different time zones and now need to create a finance function that will help us become a big global online furniture & homewares brand. We need to find the right person to help us do this.
You’ll be managing multiple work streams covering financial reporting, planning & analysis, corporate finance, legal, company secretarial and our increasing internationalisation.
You’ll pull together this disparate stream of activities and build and develop a finance team that will support and drive a business capable of changing an entire market.
You’ll need to be proactively testing new ideas, improving our processes, and convincing people to come along for the ride even when it’s difficult. You’ll persuade, nag, cajole and generally do what is needed to drive meaningful change in our business whilst always raising standards.
You’ll see things that need addressing and you'll experience constraints that you'll find restrictive, but you'll fight hard to get things changed for the better. And you’ll do it smiling (most of the time) and people will love you for it. Eventually.
You’ll have a lean but capable team and will need to pack a big punch; demands will be super stretching, the pace will be fast and delivery will be critical.
Some weeks you’ll prepare a critical Board update, implement a new piece of commercial analysis, and rework an internal finance process that has become inefficient. Others you will spend seeking legal advice for a major contract negotiation, set up international entities as we continue to internationalise, and update our website T&Cs as we roll out a new customer service. Every day will be different, from strategic to down and dirty, task-orientated to deeply analytical.
You’ll work with fantastic colleagues, have as many adventures as you have challenges and learn more about running and building a business, and changing an industry than you thought was possible.
You will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and work closely with the CEO and a highly engaged senior management team.

We launch new designs daily to give our growing community of ‘Insiders’ (email subscribers) a reason to engage and shop with us. Product launches are communicated through daily and weekly emails, with each design first produced in a very limited quantity of 10-20 pieces. Using real-time sales data, we test demand very quickly and then scale production on only the most popular pieces.
